Can I pay by Check? Money Order?	Yes, we can take both.... in the case of a check, depending on the amount, we may not commence work until the check clears.
What will I need to provide to VIS to create my website?	We will need all pertinent information filled out on the request form, consultations where necessary, drawings, graphics, requirements, etc..... any information the customer can provide that will allow VIS to create the best possible site for their needs.
What is a domain name?	A domain name is the name associated with an IP address on the Internet. The name and the IP “resolve” to a URL, which is associated with the Domain. IE: virtual-isle.com, the Virtual-Isle part is the Domain. The “com” in this case indicates that it is a commercial site, there is also .edu, .org, .gov, etc.
Can you register a domain name for me?	Yes, at no cost to the customer for the “registration”, however the customer is responsible for payment to Internic directly.
Can I change my domain name?	Yes... as long as a Domain isn't in use by someone else, you can use/purchase the name. You can also use your existing Domain name even if you change servers, or ISP's.
What will this cost to change my domain name?	It is actually more cost effective to let your old name go and get a new name than it is to change a Domain name. About $200.00 vs. about $70 for a new Domain. We “register” new domains for free, but the customer still has the direct responsibility for payment to Internic for the name itself. The charges come from Internic, not from VIS.
Can I transfer my existing domain?	Yes, when Hosting with VIS, we will handle the domain transfer at no cost.
I have purchased my domain name from another company. If I move my domain to VIS Servers, how can I update the information at VIS?	The Domain name is what is considered private property... the customer who purchased it, owns it, not the place that purchased it on their behalf, or registered with. Our order forms are complete with a section specifically designed to handle this type of information. Nothing further must be done on the consumers part, except to verify the move of the domain name, under their direct authorization.
Can I maintain my own website or will you maintain it for me?	We can do it either way. VIS can design, program, host, and maintain the site in its entirety, or the customer can simply build their own site on our servers. We have several packages we can tailor to each individuals needs.

Are your servers Unix or NT?	We maintain both Unix and NT servers, and as always, Custom Configurations are always available.
How do I cancel my account?	VIS requires a minimum of 10 days notice to close out your account. Notice may be given by Email to: accounts@virtual-isle.com. Please include your account name/number and the date you would like the account closed.

How long will it take to build my website?	The nature of each individual design project varies in many technical aspects. Layout specifications, graphic detail, amount of content, etc. etc. This may vary the completion time from as little as a few days to a week, or up to several months for a large, highly technical, corporate project.
I live in another state, can you still design and host my website?	On the Internet there is no other state. The Internet is global and access to it is global. VIS serves globally, Virtually Anywhere.

Will I be able to keep track of how many visits my website gets?	VIS provides all raw data logs for your domain at no extra charge. We have graphically enhanced log analysis statistics available for a small fee.

Do you host Adult sites, warez sites or sites containing illegal material?	NO! However, we can not be responsible for the total material contained on any site. We do not condone or accept illicit materials on VIS servers.
Is my site backed up and how often?	VIS servers are backed up on tape, daily.
How fast are your connections?	DS3 connections through multiple backbone providers.
What are your server specifications?	Dual-Pentium III SCSI drive systems. Drive size will depend on the customers needs and requirements.
Can I upgrade my plan or features later?	All of our hosting plans and featured solutions may be upgraded or added to at any time.

What is VIS' opinion on using the latest technology?	In regards to the design aspect, VIS uses the most up to date technology available to create the best possible site for our clients. However we do not believe in technology simply for technologies sake. Some customers may want and need very simple, easy to use, and low impact sites which we will be happy to provide. In response to this question for our hardware thoughts, VIS maintains a host of the latest hardware technologies, to facilitate systems that operate at optimum performance.
Who “owns” the website after it is created?	Sites hosted on VIS servers, created outside of VIS, remain under the complete and original ownership of the site owner. Sites designed by VIS are bound by the individual stipulations and agreements in the individuals design contract itself. Ordinarily, VIS assigns all ownership to the individual or business upon completion and final payment.
Does working with an experienced website design firm really make a difference?	ALL design firms will tell you this is definitely a 'yes' answer and so will we. A well designed WebSite expresses that your business has taken the time and thought to present themselves as professionally as you do in your retail outlet. An experienced design firm will also add the key marketing and design ingredients focused specifically on you with a quality presentation to provide for your customer's needs. What are the terms and conditions?	For all hosting solutions, payment is due with your order. For all Website Design and Development projects, VIS requires fifty percent (50%) of the contracted amount, due upon acceptance of the contract agreement by both parties, the remainder due upon completion of design.
Do you offer a discount for referrals?	Our incentive for referrals are as follows: For every person you refer who remains with VIS for a single billing period. You will receive one month of your basic service fees, up to a maximum of $50.00 per referral. There are no other limits.
How will I know when my service period expires?	VIS Accounting sends out statements by regular US Postal Mail and EMail, 30 days before your current service period expires.
v Do you offer dial-up internet access?	We are not an ISP, we do not provide Dial-Up Services. VIS is what is known as an IPP - Internet Presence Provider.

Do I need to cancel my account with my old hosting company before transferring to VIS?	There may be a slight time of overlap between sites, but it is just plain common courtesy to give your previous site host some notice that you are closing your account and moving your site, if you do not intend to keep the previous account open.
I don't have a website built yet, but I do have a domain... Can I “park” my domain at VIS until I'm ready for you to build it?	Yes. Do you offer subdomains like, sub.mydomain.com?	Yes, VIS can create subdomain names such as divisionof.yourcompany.com and paradise.virtual-isle.com. For further information, please see the Domain Information Page.
